Metal-over-Shingle Roof — Gray

June 2026 · 7 photos

Strapped shingle roof finished in gray standing-seam metal with ridge cap.

We covered this dark shingle roof in metal. The first day we strapped it with wood battens laid across the old shingles, working around the brick chimney and over each roof section.

Gray metal panels went on next, run from the eaves up to the ridge. The roof has more than one section, and the panels carry across each one where they meet.

To finish, we screwed down gray ridge cap along the peaks. The last photos show the whole roof in metal, ridge to eave.
