Metal-over-Shingle Roof — Red

June 2026 · 6 photos

Battens over shingles, red metal panels installed to a finished ridge.

This roof sits on an in-town lot with the street right below the eaves. We started by strapping the brown shingle roof with wood battens, laid across the old shingles up to the ridge.

The red panels came up next and were screwed down across each slope, with a crew member fitting sheets on the steeper section. A vent pipe comes up through the panels with its own boot.

Last came the ridge and hip caps, set along the peaks where the roof sections meet. The final photos show the red panels in place and the caps going on along the ridges.
